G’day, I’m Jake. I live on the Gold Coast, enjoy an active lifestyle by the beach and am the Founder of The Freedom Chaser blog.

I have been involved in the surf industry for many years, with a particular focus on technology. I was first introduced to the concept of artifical waves in 2007, when I discovered the Wild Wadi flowrider while living in Dubai, and immediately bought a season pass to enjoy a few chlorinated barrels every day.

Thankfully since this time, artificial waves have come a long way, and are now a much closer match to the ocean variety.

We are fortunate in Australia to have a thriving surf community, and the first commercial wave pool opened here in 2020. I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about, and after visiting I was hooked on the concept and underlying technology, and have remained so ever since.

All of our blog posts are researched and written from scratch.  We can’t review every single wave pool in person (believe me, I’d absolutely love to!) but I do conduct extensive market research amongst my own community of manufacturers and riders as the basis of my recommendations.  It takes a long time to do this, but it means you don’t have to.
